Now: Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are moving through the area. Temperatures are warm (mid to upper 70s) where it hasn't rained, but where rain has fallen temperatures are closer to 70 degrees. This shower and thunderstorm activity will diminish as we approach the evening hours. Fall begins tonight at 11:09 PM with the autumnal equinox, but it will not feel like fall until we move into the weekend.Tonight: As the showers and storms pull away, skies will become partly cloudy. Some low clouds and patchy fog may form toward daybreak. Lows will be mild, in the mid to upper 50s, except in the North Country where they may drop into the upper 40s. Winds will be out of the west at 5 to 10 mph. The sunset tonight is at 7:02 PM. The autumnal equinox is at 11:09 PM.
Thursday: The first full day of fall. Look for a mix of clouds and sun, with more clouds in the morning and more sun in the afternoon. There is a 20 percent chance of an isolated thunderstorm in the afternoon. Highs will be warm again, in the mid to upper 70s. Southeast winds will be around 5 to 10 mph. The UV Index will be a 5, which means you can burn in about 45 minutes.
Friday: Record warmth ! The record high in Syracuse is 88 degrees, set back in 1970. I am expecting a high around 89 degrees in Syracuse, and highs in the mid to upper 80s everywhere else. Look for hazy sun with a 20 percent chance of an isolated afternoon thunderstorm. There will be more storms overnight.
Saturday: After a 30 percent chance of leftover showers and drizzle in the morning, expect some sun for the remainder of the day. The high will actually occur around 1 AM Saturday morning, near 74 degrees, before settling into the mid-60s by day.
