New Year's Day & January 2nd, 2011 Forecast

New Year's Eve: Mostly cloudy with a brief shower or sprinkle tonight. The low in Syracuse will drop to around 39 degrees by daybreak. If you are outside for any celebrations, the temperature will be near 41 degrees at 12 AM. Winds will be out of the south 5 to 10 mph. The chance of rain tonight is only 20 percent. New Year's Day: Isolated rain showers in the morning will increase in coverage during the afternoon. A mild day is expected with a high near 53 degrees. Winds will be out of the south 5 to 15 mph. The chance of rain is around 60 percent.

Sunday: Breezy and colder with a 30 percent chance of a few flurries. There will be some breaks of sun, too. The high will be near 39 degrees. Lake effect snow showers and flurries are likely Sunday night east and southeast of Lake Ontario. Winds will be out of the west 10 to 20 mph.
