January 20th, 2011 Forecast

Tonight: Very cold with lake effect snow showers. A new trace to 2 inches of snow is likely across Central New York with locally higher amounts possible. Lows will drop to around 12 in Syracuse but near 3 degrees in Watertown. Northwest winds shift from the west 3 to 8 mph. The chance of snow is about 70 percent. The sunset this evening is at 5:00 PM.

Thursday: Flurries early in the morning give way to some breaks of sun. Then clouds increase late in the day in advance of area-wide snow developing overnight. The high will be near 20 degrees (colder north and warmer south) with west winds 5 to 10 mph. The chance of flurries in the morning is around 40 percent.

Friday: Area-wide snow in the morning will yield to lake effect snow showers and flurries in the afternoon. It will become breezy in the afternoon with a high near 22 degrees. The chance of snow is about 80 percent.

Saturday: Frigid with a high only around 11 degrees. Wind chills will be below zero with a breeze out of the northwest. Otherwise, lake effect snow showers and flurries will taper, and we may see a few breaks of sun by the afternoon. The chance of snow is 30 percent.
