February 25th, 2011 Forecast

Tonight: A winter storm watch is in effect for most of Central New York from late tonight through Friday. Expect gray skies tonight with light spotty rain or snow showers. After 2 AM, precipitation will increase in coverage from south to north. The best chance for mainly snow is in most of North Country, areas of Oswego and northern Oneida counties, northern Cayuga county, Wayne county, and the northern Finger Lakes region. A mix of rain, snow, and sleet is expected near the Thruway and in immediate Central New York. To the southeast, mostly rain is expected. Lows will drop to right around 32 degrees. Light and variable winds will become northeast 5 to 10 mph. The sunset tonight is at 5:47 PM.

Friday: A winter storm watch remains in effect for most of Central, Western, and Northern New York. A winter storm warning is in effect for the Adirondacks. The best chance for all snow remains in the North Country, the Adirondacks, Western New York, and the northern Finger Lakes region. Near the thruway and in immediate Central New York, a mix of snow, sleet, and rain is expected before changing to all snow later in the day. To the south and southeast, mostly rain and sleet are expected before changing over to snow late in the day. See the map below for a snowfall forecast. The high will be near 34 degrees. It will become windy with northeast winds becoming north-northwest 15 to 30 mph with gusts around 40 mph.

Saturday: Snow showers early, then some breaks of sun before flurries move in late in the afternoon. High near 25 degrees. Light snow is likely Saturday night.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy with flurries and drizzle possible. High around 34 degrees.
