June 3rd, 2011 Forecast

Syracuse's high on Wednesday was 89 degrees, just 2 degrees shy of the record set back in 1954. Today, we are 25 to 30 degrees cooler ! Highs are going to struggle to get out of the lower 60s by 5 PM this afternoon. Now, there will be a relief from the heat for a while.

Tonight: Starry skies and chilly. Lows will drop to around 43 degrees in Syracuse by daybreak, but the colder countryside locations will dip into the mid to upper 30s ! I expect areas of frost to form in the Binghamton area, across the Catskill Mountains, and in parts of the North Country. As the sun sets at 8:38 PM tonight, the winds will drop off to 5 to 10 mph out of the west-northwest.

Friday: After a chilly start, bright sun will cause temperatures to recover to near 70 degrees by 5 PM in the afternoon. It will be breezy and milder with northwest winds at 10 to 20 mph.

Saturday: Some morning sunshine will give way to increasing afternoon clouds. There is a 30 percent chance of a shower in the afternoon and a 40 percent chance after sunset. It will be warmer with a high near 81 degrees.

Sunday: Mix of sun and clouds with another 30 percent chance of a brief shower. The high will be around 79 degrees.
