December 21st, 2011 Forecast

A surface low accompanied by a warm front will move into our area tonight into Wednesday, bringing with it rain to our area with some chance of freezing rain in cold areas. Things will quiet down for Thursday but another storm system will bring a chance of some rain and snow showers for Friday. As for the Christmas weekend, the models are still in disagreement when it comes to forecasting an upper level low forming along the east coast. The GFS has no low while the ECMWF has a very deep low moving up the coast, keeping us on the western side of the precipitation (meaning a good chance of snow, if it holds). There is still much uncertainty, and a good forecast won't really be available until around Thursday.
