March 2nd, 2012 Forecast

Welcome to meteorological spring ! The official season of spring begins at 1:14 AM on March 20th with the vernal equinox. In preparation for the equinox, our clocks will "spring forward" an hour on the morning of March 11th and 2 AM will become 3 AM. In the meantime, it may feel like spring around here for the next couple of days, especially Saturday as a long wave trough becomes a closed low and brings us mild temperatures and the chance for thunderstorms.

Tonight: Rain and snow showers taper off. Lows in the upper 20s. Winds will be out of the southwest at 3 to 8 mph. The sunset this evening is at 5:54 PM.

Friday: Mix of clouds and sun, milder. High in the upper 40s. Winds will be out of the southwest at 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday: Mild and windy with a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. High in the lower 50s.

Sunday: Cooler and breezy with a 30 percent chance of a few snow showers. High in the mid-30s.
