November 5th, 2012 Forecast

The significantly weakened remnants of what was previously Hurricane Sandy is now well north of the region. The associated northwesterly flow around that circulation has given our area scattered light rain/snow showers over the last few days. With this area of low pressure finally departing the area overnight tonight, we are expecting to see much nicer conditions as we go into the Monday morning commute and beyond. Going through the day on Monday we will be seeing much better conditions with beautiful sunshine and temperatures getting into the low to mid 40's which will be followed a very cold overnight period with temperatures possibly flirting with the 20F mark in some higher elevations southeast of Lake Ontario. Tuesday will be very close to a carbon copy of Monday with only slightly moderated overnight lows courtesy of some high clouds moving through the region. As we go into Wednesday we turn our attention to the possibility of a Nor'easter when off the Carolina coastline. Most of the more reliable models have solutions both coming inland in the Northeastern US and going out to sea. Therefore; for the time being, stay tuned to updates on this upcoming system which could have substantial impacts both here in central New York as well as closer to the coastal areas of New Jersey, Long Island, and Connecticut which were all devastated by the wrath of Hurricane Sandy less than a week ago.
