Low pressure moving northward over Michigan will transfer its energy to another low pressure forming off the Mid Atlantic. The low pressure over Michigan will help push some warmer air into the mid levels so that precipitation will mix with or chance to rain tonight across the Finger Lakes southward. The precipitation will move out of the area by tomorrow as a new air mass of much cooler air follows behind the low pressure. This will help get lake effect started as temperatures at mid levels will be between -10°C to -15°C (Lake Ontario's water temperature is 38°F (~3°C)). The low pressure will stick around through the remainder of the week before high pressure forms for the weekend.
