August 21st and 22nd, 2010 Forecast

We saw some cloud cover early this morning, especially in the southern tier and the Catskill Mountains. Otherwise, we have seen plenty of sun today across Central New York. It is cooler and less humid than Thursday, but Saturday will warm up again, and the humidity returns by Saturday night. Scattered storms also move into the area overnight on Saturday night, and some of them may be strong during the day on Sunday.

Tonight: Few clouds and very cool. Lows will drop into the mid-40s across the Catskill Mountains, around 50 degrees in the north country and the southern tier, the lower to mid-50s in immediate Central New York, and the upper 50s near Lake Ontario. North winds will turn to the southeast overnight at 3 to 8 mph.

Saturday and Saturday Night: Sun in the morning gives way to clouds in the afternoon. It will be a warm day with highs in the lower 80s in Central New York, the southern tier, and the Catskill Mountains. Locations near Lake Ontario will hold in the mid-70s with the lake breeze, and the north country will be in the upper 70s. Winds will be out of the southeast at 5 to 10 mph. More humidity moves in by Saturday night. Scattered storms could move in after midnight as low temperatures drop generally into the mid-60s...warmer near the lake and cooler in the mountains. Winds shift more toward the south at 5 to 10 mph. The chance of rain Saturday night is 40 percent.

High temperatures will be in the mid to upper 70s everywhere in our forecasting area, with a high around 78 degrees expected in Syracuse. Winds will be out of the south-southeast at 5 to 15 mph.
