September 25th and 26th, 2010 Forecast

Now: As if this writing, Syracuse has tied their record high for September 24th. The high so far today has been 88 degrees (2 PM). I think we will make it to 90 degrees by the end of the afternoon, breaking the record high of 88, set back in 1970. This is the warmest day in about 3 weeks here in Central New York. Don't get used to it because it will be turning much cooler as we move into the weekend.

Tonight: There is a 40 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms, especially in Central New York, along the Lake Ontario shore, and in the North Country. It is going to be a very mild night. At 1 AM Saturday morning, temperatures should still be near 74 degrees, which will be our high for Saturday. Otherwise, temperatures drop to around 60 by daybreak. Winds will be out of the southwest at 10 to 15 mph. The sunset tonight is at 6:58 PM.

Saturday and Saturday Night: There is a 30 percent chance of a few showers. Daytime highs will be much cooler, ranging from 61 degrees north to 68 degrees south. Syracuse should hold around 63 degrees during the day on Saturday. Some breaks of sun are possible in the afternoon. Otherwise, it will be breezy and cooler with wind gusts near 25 mph out of the west. It will be a chilly night on Saturday night as lows range from 41 degrees across the Catskill Mountains to around 50 degrees in Syracuse. West winds 5 to 15 mph overnight.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy and cool. Highs will struggle to reach 60 degrees in many locations across Central New York. Upper 50s are likely in the North Country, but mid-60s are possibly in the Southern Tier. Expect west winds around 5 to 10 mph.
