September 30th, 2010 Forecast

Now: It is a seasonable late September afternoon across Central New York with temperatures generally in the mid-60s under a mix of sun and clouds. Clouds will continue to increase and thicken as we move into tonight before rain develops after midnight. A Flood Watch is in effect from Thursday morning through late Thursday night because 2 to 4 inches of rain is expected in a 6 to 9 hour period. Keep an eye on the alerts during the day on Thursday to see if a flood warning gets issued for your county.

Tonight: Clouds thicken. Rain develops after midnight. The chance of rain late tonight is about 70 percent. Lows will drop between 54 and 60 degrees across the area. East-southeast winds will be 5 to 10 mph. The sunset tonight is at 6:49 PM.

Thursday: Rain, heavy at times. The chance of rain is near 100 percent. 2 to 4 inches of rain is expected. If it were snow, it would be about 20 to 40 inches of snow on a 1 to 10 ratio. However, highs will range between 65 and 68 degrees...much too warm for snow. East winds in the morning will shift from the north and then northwest at 5 to 15 mph.

Friday: After a 30 percent chance of a leftover shower in the morning, it turns breezy under plenty of clouds. Highs will be around 64 degrees.

Saturday: Very cool with clouds mixing with some breaks of sun. Again there is a 30 percent chance of showers. Highs will hold in the mid to upper 50s. The first weekend of October will be well below normal.
