January 15th and 16th, 2011 Forecast

Tonight: Mostly cloudy with lake effect snow showers east of Lake Ontario. Bitter cold with lows 6 to 12 degrees except near Lake Ontario. The chance of snow up there is about 60 percent. West winds 5 to 10 mph will become south overnight. The sunset this evening is at 4:53 PM.

Saturday: Mainly gray skies with area-wide snow showers. 1 to 3 inches of new snow is expected. Becoming breezy in the afternoon with a high near 29 degrees. The chance of snow is around 70 percent. Winds will increase out of the south 10 to 20 mph.

Sunday: Lake effect snow showers east of Lake Ontario. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, breezy early. High near 28 degrees. Winds west 10 to 20 mph diminishing to 5 to 15 mph. The chance of snow east of Lake Ontario is around 40 percent.

Monday: Sun in the morning gives way to increasing clouds. Bitter cold with highs only around 20 degrees.

A clipper system will move through on Tuesday and Wednesday creating periods of snow mixed with sleet and freezing rain at times, especially Tuesday night.
