November 26th, 2012 Forecast

Forecast Discussion: Over much of the last week things have been relatively quiet across the central New York region. Starting on Saturday we watched the first true lake effect snow event for the region kick off. By this morning it was intensifying rapidly into a fairly strong snow band which slowly moved off to the north through the day primarily impacting the Tug Hill region. Overnight tonight this band will be slowly moving towards the south dropping more snowfall in central and southern Oswego county. A general 2-6" of snowfall is expected across most areas southeast and east of Lake Ontario. Locations with the core of the band which persists through the overnight could easily see 6-12"+ of total snowfall through this event. After tomorrow we will likely see lake effect snow showers persists through Tuesday and possibly into the first part of Wednesday. Beyond that things look to be drying out for a few days. Stay tuned for updates on this latest lake effect event as it unfolds!
