Strong low pressure will move over the area through the overnight hours and continue northeastward into Canada. Rain showers will be first, but then a gradually change to snow showers will occur thanks to cold air on the western portion of the low pressure. That cold air will remain; and with winds turning northwesterly, lake effect snow showers look likely Friday night through the weekend (which I believe will secure our chance of having a white Christmas). Sunny skies will return for the start of Christmas.
