Weekly Recap, January 27-February 2, 2013

It was a busy weather week last week.  Monday we started with snow, transitioned to freezing rain/sleet which gave some of us significant ice accumulations, and then finally to rain.  Tuesday morning featured lots of black ice on the roads with created a dangerous morning commute.  By Wednesday we were experiencing record warmth!  We smashed the record high of 54 by 9 degrees.  Thursday there was lake effect snow north of Syracuse, but then by Friday it made its way down to Syracuse and gave us just over 10 inches of snow!  Groundhog Day just featured a little light snow in the afternoon.

At the airport, we got 12.9 inches of snow for the week, but some places across Lewis County got almost 2 feet!  I'm keeping an eye on tomorrow's lake effect potential -- it's looking like Syracuse could receive some significant accumulations.  I have a feeling a lot of schools will close tomorrow, giving some kids/teachers a 4 day weekend since some closed on Friday as well.
