Snow will be falling at 1 to 2 inches per hour in many of these intense bands. It will be a very cold night with lows dropping to around 9 degrees in Syracuse but below zero in the North Country. Saturday: Leftover lake effect snow squalls in the morning will SLOWLY move back toward the shoreline by the end of the afternoon. There will be additional accumulations of snow in these bands. Otherwise, look for clouds and sun with winds diminishing to 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. It will be a blustery cold day with a high near 13 degrees. The wind chill will be between 0 and 10 above during the afternoon. The chance of snow is about 90 percent.
Sunday: Lake effect snow showers and flurries with localized accumulations, especially in the morning. Otherwise, partly sunny and bitter cold with a high near 10 degrees. A frigid night is expected Sunday night with a low around 14 below. The record low for Monday morning is 14 below, set back in 1907. This record will likely be tied or broken. The chance of snow during the day on Sunday is around 40 percent.
Monday: An absolutely frigid day under sunny skies. The high will struggle to get above 3 degrees, and then we drop below zero again Monday night.
