Tonight: Look for an isolated leftover thunderstorm, especially south, but the chance of rain runs only around 20 percent. Partly cloudy skies are expected overnight as dew points drop into the lower 60s by morning. Overnight lows will range from 59 degrees in the North Country to 64 degrees in Syracuse and Central New York. Winds will be from the west at 5 to 15 mph. The sunset tonight in CNY is at 8:21 PM.
Friday: A very nice day, but cool for the beginning of August. Dew points will settle between 50 and 52 degrees by the afternoon...much better than the 70 degree dew points we saw on Thursday. Expect a mix of sun and clouds and slightly breezy conditions. West-northwest winds sustained at 10 to 15 mph could gust around 25 mph at times. Highs across the region will range from 71 degrees near Lake Ontario to 78 degrees in the southern tier and Binghamton.
Friday Night: A very cool night, especially to the north and across higher elevations. The record low in Syracuse for Saturday morning is 48 degrees (1994), and some places will come very close, if not drop below that number. Syracuse should hold right around 50 degrees by daybreak Saturday. The normal low for this time of year is 60 degrees.
Saturday: Another nice day, but still cool, especially in the morning. Mostly sunny and pleasant with a high in the mid-70s in Central New York.
Sunday: Warming back up into the 80s and feeling like a typical August day across the region. The normal high for this time of year in Syracuse is 81 degrees, and temperatures should warm up just slightly above that mark in most places.
