January 21st, 2013 Forecast

Forecast Discussion: Through much of day central New York began developing into an all-out winter wonderland with lake effect snow developing east of Lake Ontario by breakfast time. Over the next several days as we have the rough combination of an Arctic air mass coupled with a predominantly northwest flow will give much of our region prolonged lake effect snowfall with locally heavy snowfall possible over the next two or three days. Towards the end of the work week this pattern should begin to change; however, be sure to take it easy if you must venture out on the roads as conditions often change rapidly in minutes during a lake effect snow event. Be sure to continue bundling up in layers as this cold weather will be around through the week with overnight lows generally between 0-10 degrees with some spots dipping below 0. Towards the end of the week, we are still keeping our eyes on a potential coastal storm which still has the potential to graze us with a few light inches of snowfall on top of what falls during the coming lake effect event. Stay with us right here for updates through the week!
