February 2nd, 2011 Forecast

The large storm system over the Midwest is still on track to hit our region (Chicago is getting probably the worst part of this storm, over 2 feet for them). As for us, we are on track for receiving a foot of snow. However, there is still an uncertainty with regards to where sleet (ice pellets) is going to fall, and that depends on how far the warm air way up high is from us. If it gets closer to our area then our snow totals will be greatly reduced. As of right now that warm air is foretasted to just stay a little to our south, mostly impacting Tompkins county and other counties to the south. The snow will begin in the early morning hours, and the heaviest is forecast from about 4am to about 10am Wednesday, so I believe many schools will be closing because of this factor. It will continue to fall throughout the day, but not as heavy. Accumulations total will be 8-16 inches. High pressure will build in for Thursday bringing an end to the snow.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy. Snow likely after midnight. 4-8 inches. Lows near 20. Northeast wind 5-10mph

Wednesday/Wednesday Night: Heavy snow in the morning, then light snow in the afternoon, tapering off in the evening. Total accumulation 8-16 inches. Highs near 20. East wind 10-20mph with higher gusts

(My graphics are having a problem with my computer. I will try to fix them for the evening)
