November 22nd, 2010 Forecast

A warm front will approach the region from the south bringing with it showers and warm temperatures for Monday afternoon. Soon after a cold front will move through the region which will help to spark some lake effect rain and snow showers for Tuesday.


Tonight: Cloudy skies. Lows near 40. South wind 10-15mph


Monday/Monday Night: Cloudy with showers becoming likely later in the day. Highs approaching 60. Lows near 50. South wind 5-15mph.


Tuesday/Tuesday Night: Lake effect rain and snow showers. Highs in the lower 50s. Lows in the lower 40s. Southwest wind 10-15mph.


Wednesday: Chance of rain and snow showers. Highs in the lower 40s.

November 19th, 2010 Forecast

As cold air moves over Lake Ontario it will help to produce some lake effect rain showers and even some snow showers during the night. A high pressure will build in for Friday afternoon, but that will move out as a low pressure system moves in quickly for Saturday bring with it showers, but mostly in places north. Clear skies will return for Sunday.


Tonight: Scattered rain or snow showers. Lows near 30. West wind 5-10mph.


Friday/Friday Night: Chance of rain or snow showers in the morning, then becoming partly sunny in the afternoon. Chance of showers overnight. Highs in the mid 40s. Lows in the mid 30s. West wind 5-10mph.


Saturday/Saturday Night: Chance of rain showers. Highs in the lower 40s. Lows in the upper 20s. West wind 5-10mph.


Sunday: Mostly Sunny. Highs in the lower 50s.

Thanksgiving Outlook: As of right now it looks like there could be a chance of some rain and snow showers as a low pressure moves north from Mississippi. Temps look to be in the lower 40s.

Labor Day Weekend Forecast

Now: High clouds are on the increase across Central New York this afternoon as a line of showers and thunderstorms approaches from the west. Temperatures are approaching 90 degrees again, but today will be the last hot day for a while. Highs will hold in the 60s over the weekend before warming up into the mid-70s by Labor Day.

Tonight: The line of showers and storms will arrive during the evening hours (between 8 PM and 10 PM). Once the storms move through, skies will become partly cloudy overnight. Lows will drop between 55 and 60 degrees across Central New York, except mid-60s are expected along the Lake Ontario shore. Winds will be from the west at 5 to 15 mph. The sunset tonight is at 7:36 PM.

Saturday: Windy and cooler with a few showers. Highs will hold in the mid to upper 60s all across Central New York. West winds will be sustained at 15 to 25 mph with gusts 35 to 40 mph ! Some breaks of sun may be seen in between showers. The UV Index will be a 3, which means you can burn in 55 minutes.

Sunday: Cool and breezy with lake effect rain showers developing. Highs will still hold in the mid to upper 60s. Southwest winds will be sustained at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph.

Labor Day: Turning milder under a mix of clouds and sun. A shower will be possible, but most locations will remain dry. High temperatures warm back up into the mid-70s, making for a pleasant end to the holiday weekend.

September 3rd, 2010 Forecast

Tonight: It will be partly cloudy and continued warm and muggy. Lows will be in the 60s. Winds will be light and variable and then turn to the south at about 5mph

Friday: It will be partly sunny in the morning and early afternoon. There will be a chance of showers toward the evening and overnight hours. Highs will be in the lower to upper 80s and lows friday night will be near 60. South winds about 5-10mph

Saturday: There will still be a chance of showers throughout the day and overnight hours. It will be cooler with highs in the mid 60s and lows near 50. Winds will increase to 20-25 mph with gust nearing 40 mph from the west (a wind advisory may be issued).

Sunday: Slight chance of showers. Highs nearing 70.

September 2nd, 2010 Forecast

Now: Another hazy, hot, and humid day with temperatures climbing to around 90, or even into the lower 90s, across much of Central New York. Heat index values are in the lower to mid-90s with dew points in the mid to upper 60s. The heat and humidity will continue into Thursday and Friday before a strong cold front moves through and drops temperatures significantly for the holiday weekend.

Tonight: It will be a warm and muggy night with lows only dropping to around 69 degrees in Syracuse. Skies will be mostly clear and winds will be from the south-southwest at 5 to 10 mph. The sunset tonight is at 7:39 PM.

Thursday: Hazy, hot, and humid with a 20 percent chance of a pop-up thunderstorm. Most places will remain dry. Highs will be in the 86 to 94 range across Central New York. South-southwest winds will be about 5 to 15 mph. The UV Index will be a 7, which means you can burn in about 30 minutes.

Friday: Hazy sun in the morning will give way to increasing clouds and scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon. The chance of rain is about 40 percent. Temperatures will drop significantly Friday night into the mid-50s.

Saturday: Windy and cooler with a few showers. There will be some hazy sun, too. High temperatures will struggle to get out of the mid to upper 60s. The chance of rain is around 40 percent.

September 1st, 2010 Forecast

Tonight: Conditions will be clear, but there will be some fog in points south. Lows will be in the 60s across much of the area. Winds will be from WSW at 5-10mph

Wednesday: It will be sunny and very hot. Highs will be in the upper 90s across CNY with lower 90s or upper 80s elsewhere. West winds 5-10mph.

Thursday: Sunny skies will still dominate. Highs will be in the lower 90s north and upper 80s south. Winds will turn to the south 5-10mph

Friday: There will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cooler with highs in the lower 80s.

August 31st, 2010 Forecast

Now: It is a hazy, hot and humid afternoon across all of Central New York. Temperatures are generally in the upper 80s, except lower 80s are being seen along the Lake Ontario shore. Heat index values are around 90 degrees in many locations. It is going to keep getting hotter for the next 3 days, with temperatures forecast to be 1 degree shy of the record for all 3 days.

Tonight: Starry skies and mild. Lows will range from 57 degrees in the Catskills to 67 degrees at the Lake Ontario shore. Syracuse should drop to around 63 degrees by daybreak. West winds will become southwest overnight at 5 to 10 mph. The sunset tonight is at 7:43 PM.

Tuesday: Sunny and hot. It will also be a bit humid with dew points around 65 degrees, making it feel like it is 93 degrees in Syracuse with the forecast high of 91 degrees. Oswego and other places along the lake should hold in the mid-80s. Winds will be out of the southwest in the morning and continue to turn throughout the day, eventually becoming northwest by the evening at 5 to 15 mph. The record high for Tuesday in Syracuse is 92 degrees, set back in 1924. The UV index will be a 7, which means you can burn in about 30 minutes.

Wednesday: Continued sunny and hot with a high around 93 degrees in Syracuse. The record high is 94 degrees, set back in 1932).

Thursday: Very hot under mostly sunny skies. A few high clouds may move into the area due to Earl spinning out in the Atlantic. Expect a high near 95 degrees in Central New York. The record high is 96 degrees, set back in 1953.

August 28th and 29th, 2010 Forecast

The sunshine is back ! Not only is it back for today, but it is back for the next week or so. A big ridge of high pressure will be parking itself over the east coast, which means we will be entering a gorgeous weather pattern with plenty of sun and warmer than normal temperatures. It will be very warm, if not hot, by next week as high temperatures make a run at 90 degrees Sunday through Thursday. However, humidity levels and dew points will be kept at comfortable levels, so the warmth and heat will not be intolerable.

Tonight: Moonlit skies and very cool. Low temperatures will drop to the 46 to 52 range, so if you will be heading to the New York State Fair this evening, dress for the lower 60s and upper 50s. West-northwest winds will become southwest overnight at 3 to 8 mph. The sunset tonight is at 7:48 PM.

Saturday and Saturday Night: Sunny skies and warmer. High temperatures will be in the lower 80s for everyone except the higher elevations of the Catskill Mountains. It will be one of the nicest days of the year ! Winds will be out of the west at 5 to 10 mph. Saturday night will feature lows in the lower to mid-50s, except near 60 degrees at the Lake Ontario shore, under clear skies and light winds.

Sunday: Sunny skies and warm. High temperatures will be in the upper 80s for everyone except near the Lake Ontario shore where the lake breeze will cause temperatures to hold in the lower 80s. Southeast winds will become west-northwest at 5 to 15 mph.

Tonight: Conditions will go from mostly cloudy to clear, although there will be some lake effect showers near the shores of lake ontario. Lows will be around 50, with some mid 40s in the mountains. Winds will be from N and NW 5-15mph with highers gusts possible.

Friday: Mostly Sunny. Highs in the lower 70s and upper 60s. NW winds 5-10mph

Saturday: Mostly Sunny. Warmer with highs in the lower 80s. Light west wind.

Sunday: Sunny. Much warmer with highs nearing 90.

August 26th, 2010 Forecast

Now: There are a few showers out there today and temperatures are in the mid-70s. I know most of you are probably sick of the clouds and showers we have been seeing over the past several days, but don't worry...as we move into Friday, we will have at least a week straight of sunshine and pleasant temperatures as high pressure takes over the northeastern United States. Get out to the New York State Fair this weekend and enjoy the beautiful weather !

Tonight: There is a 30 percent chance of a brief shower or two this evening. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy and lows will drop near 60 degrees in Syracuse. Northwest winds will become west overnight at 5 to 10 mph. The sunset tonight is at 7:51 PM.

Thursday: The first day of the New York State Fair is not looking to be one of the best days weather-wise. A mix of sun and clouds will yield isolated showers from midday on. It will be cooler and breezy with highs only around 70 degrees. West-northwest winds will be sustained at 10 to 15 mph with gusts around 25 mph. The UV Index will be a 6, which means you can burn in about 35 minutes.

Friday: High pressure builds in and yields a mostly sunny and pleasant day with highs in the lower 70s. There will only be a few fair weather clouds around during the day.

Saturday: Sunny skies and warmer with highs approaching 81 degrees. There should not be a cloud in sight Saturday through Monday with highs in the mid-80s by the second half of the weekend and the start of next week.

Tonight: Conditions will be mostly cloudy. Lows will range from the upper 50s south the the lower to mid 60s north. Winds will be from the east from 5-10mph.

Wednesday: Conditions will remain mostly cloudy, but there will be a chance of showers in the afternoon and overnight hours. Highs will generally be in the lower to mid 70s but in the upper 60s toward the Catskills. Winds will be from E in the north and NE in the Catskills at 5-10mph.

Thursday (First day of the State Fair): There will still be a chance of showers. Highs will be in the lower to mid 70s. Winds will become west at about 5mph.

Friday: Mostly Sunny. Highs in the lower 70s.

August 24th, 2010 Forecast

It is finally time for things to dry out across Central New York. Syracuse received 4.21 inches of rain on Sunday, smashing the old daily record for August 22nd (1.50 inches). The showers are finally moving to the south into New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and they will be dealing with them for the next 24 to 36 hours.

Tonight: There is a 20 percent chance of an isolated shower in the evening. Otherwise, expect a damp night under plenty of clouds. Low temperatures will range from 54 to 60 degrees across Central New York. Winds will be out of the east-northeast at 5 to 15 mph. The sunset tonight is at 7:54 PM.

Tuesday: It should be a dry day for most, if not all, of us. Look for a mix of clouds and sun. It will be a bit warmer than the past couple of days with highs mainly in the lower to mid-70s. It may hold in the upper 60s across the Catskill Mountains due to some extra cloud cover and the higher elevation. There will be a slight breeze out of the east at 5 to 15 mph with gusts around 20 mph.

Wednesday: Hazy sun and more humid with a 20 percent chance of an isolated thunderstorm in the afternoon. High temperatures will warm up into the upper 70s for most.

Thursday: A mix of sun and clouds with a 20 percent chance of a brief shower. It will be breezy and cooler with a high near 73 degrees in immediate CNY.
