December 16th, 2010 Forecast

Tonight: Lake effect snow squalls will likely be heavy southeast of Lake Ontario. The bands will only move slightly overnight, so expect significant accumulations. Most of this area should receive 6 to 12 inches of snow by morning, with locally higher amounts if the band is stationary. The low in Syracuse will drop to around 19 degrees. Northwest winds will shift from the west overnight 10 to 20 mph. The chance of snow is about 90 percent. The sunset this evening is at 4:30 PM.

Thursday: Lake effect snow will continue southeast of Lake Ontario. Area-wide 3 to 6 inches of new snow is likely, with locally higher amounts of over 6 inches in more persistent bands. The high will be in the mid-20s. Winds will be out of the west-northwest 10 to 20 mph. The chance of snow is around 70 percent.

Friday: Clouds and sun with leftover flurries. High around 31 degrees.

Saturday: Clouds and sun with a stray flurry or two. High near 31 degrees.
