December 8th, 2010 Forecast

Once again we are seeing lake effect in full force, and at the last radar look it seems to be intensifying across the eastern Finger Lakes region. I would expect an additional moderate accumulation of snow tonight across much of this area, with accumulations approaching 10" in the areas where the band stays throughout the night. As for school closings and delays I would again expect some more around tomorrow, again mostly around the Eastern Finger Lakes region. Tomorrow the snow will continue but then gradually wind down tomorrow night. We will be snow free for a day until a clipper system (simply a low pressure tracking across the middle of the country) comes our way and brings a general snowfall to the region. Then our attention turns to the weekend as the majority of the northeast could very well see its first nor'easter of the season, as to precipitation type it's too early to tell (it's best to start trusting the model output about 3 days before an event), so we will have to wait before it all plays out, but as of right now it could be yet another major snow event for the area. Stay tuned for updates.

Tonight: Snow continues. Accumulations 3-6 inches, heavier amounts in persistent snow bands. Lows near 20. West wind 10-15mph

Wednesday/Wednesday Night: Snow, gradually winding down during the evening hours. Accumulations 3-5 inches, heavier amounts in persistent snow bands. Highs near 30. Lows in the upper teens. West wind 5-10mph

Thursday/Thursday Night: Slight chance of snow showers. Highs in the lower 20s. Lows near 10

Friday: Snow. Highs near 30
