December 9th, 2010 Forecast

Tonight: Lake effect snow. 6 to 12 inches of snow will fall in the most persistent bands east-southeast of Lake Ontario. Lows will drop to around 15 degrees in Syracuse, making for a bitter cold night. Winds will be out of the west 5 to 15 mph. The chance of snow tonight is around 100 percent.

Thursday: Lake effect snow will weaken late in the day. Look for some breaks of sun, too. 1 to 4 inches of snow is likely southeast of Lake Ontario. The high will be near 23 degrees. Winds will be out of the west-northwest 5 to 15 mph. The chance of snow for Thursday is about 80 percent. It turns frigid Thursday night with a low around 9 degrees in Syracuse, and even colder in the North Country and the mountains.

Friday: There is a 40 percent chance for some light snow and flurries, mainly in the afternoon. The high temperature will be around 31 degrees.

Saturday: A mix of sun and clouds with a 30 percent chance of a few flurries. Expect a high around 36 degrees.
